Our origin story, in a nutshell.
KeyCaliber was founded by a former security leader from the Executive Office of the President and the Department of Homeland Security, who saw the same pattern across organization after organization: security teams were working harder than ever, but security outcomes did not improve. They added more tools and put in more hours — and stayed exposed, because their fundamentals weren't solid. Critical assets were overlooked. Controls were applied inconsistently. Gaps stayed hidden — not from a lack of effort or investment, but from a lack of visibility into what was actually protected.
No amount of effort can strengthen a security program built on an incomplete picture. That was true when the unknowns were servers nobody had inventoried. It is truer now that they are AI systems nobody approved — running on laptops, wired into applications that passed review years ago, and reaching the data the business runs on. The same blind spot, moving faster.
Make the unknown visible.
Our mission is to make the unknown visible — and to stay honest about what is still unknown. When a security leader can see every AI system in use, who is behind it, and which critical systems it touches, AI stops being a policy document and becomes something a team can actually govern. The same picture still shows where controls stopped and what the business depends on. That groundwork never stopped mattering. It is what makes the answer about AI worth trusting.

With roots in national security, we have a bias toward solving real problems. We've been in our customers' shoes and we know what they're going through. They need working solutions to turn thorny problems into achievable actions. We move fast and stay pragmatic so our customers can keep up with the demands of our intense and fast-paced industry.
The leadership team behind the picture.
Roselle is a serial cybersecurity entrepreneur on her second adventure. The first startup she founded, Uplevel Security, was acquired by McAfee. Both of her startups have been based heavily on her previous experience as a cybersecurity practitioner and leader. She led cybersecurity operations at the Executive Office of the President during the Obama Administration, directing tactical measures and strategic initiatives for protecting and defending the White House's network. Prior she managed the computer forensics and malware analysis teams at the Department of Homeland Security's US-CERT (now CISA).
Bryan Bickford started in offensive cyber while in college where he co-founded the cybersecurity club and won numerous capture the flag competitions. He then worked on data science projects for the defense industrial base where he built algorithms that modeled offensive and defensive scenarios for cyber assets. Later he was the principal data scientist at Visitrend, an early-stage cybersecurity startup that was acquired by Carbon Black. He has nearly two decades of experience building complex analytical software.
